The Kochi Municipal Corporation launched the ambitious project ABC-ARV programme of Mission Kochi 15-8-15 to resolve the perennial issues of street dogs in the city by constructing a high-tech multispeciality veterinary hospital at Brahmapuram spending around 1.20 crores, which was inaugurated by the Minister of Urban Affairs Shri. Manjalamkuzhi Ali on May 28th, 2015. DSC_0661The ABC programme plans to sterilize around 4000 dogs in a year and bring down the number of stray dogs in the next four years. The air conditioned surgery room set up at the hospital has all the facilities including five surgery tables. Four veterinary surgeons and four assistants have been appointed specially for the hospital. The dogs are captured using pole net, and will be kept in custody overnight and surgery will be performed next day. For the easy identification of the vaccinated and sterilized dog, an ear notching would be made.
